For this purpose, the authors conducted quantitative marketing research among students from the Transilvania University of Brasov who have been abroad with ERASMUS scholarships. Because Romania also participates in this program in the exchange of university students, the authors wanted, through this study, to highlight the benefits and challenges of participation in the program, to analyze how international mobilities are emotionally perceived by students and what are the behavioral reasons that determine Romanian students to choose a certain university as a study destination abroad. The best known of these programs is ERASMUS (European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students). In order to develop the skills and competencies of future competitors in this market, several student mobility programs have been set up in the EU, where they can travel to universities in partner countries to further their studies and enrich their academic performance, culture and knowledge. The European Union (EU) labor market needs a better-skilled workforce that can work in any of the Member States. COVID-19 has enhanced the virtual component of learning, resulting in the strengthening of the blended mobility model. The STA flow is not reflected in the students’ mobility flow. The most mobile group of teachers were the ones representing environment sciences. Moreover, the findings in the geographical aspect show that there were two main regions of destination, which were the Iberian Peninsula and the closest neighbouring countries, where the predominant institutions could be observed. The results show that the mobility flow at UPWr rose significantly after the authorities of the university decided to increase the funding for STA, and eventually was slowed down by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Using this approach, the connections between spatial locations and domains of scientific activity were analysed. The geo-visualization was prepared with the use of a spider diagram.

The methodological approach applied in this study is based on the concept of mobility network analysis and mobility flows. The research took into account the mobility of staff for teaching (STA) within the period of the academic years from 2009/2010 to 2020/2021. Considering this context, the objective of this study was to analyse the staff mobility for teaching under the Erasmus+ programme at the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences (UPWr). The foremost factor of functioning in the international world of science is the mobility of students and scientists.

1/3 of former international student mobility participants considered international experience to have a very important influence on their professional development and position. Higher education and proficiency in foreign languages were judged very important by the majority of our study subjects. We wanted our respondents to estimate the importance of selected factors for their career development and job position. As much as 68.6% reported they had ever worked abroad. Only 1.6% of the former international student mobility participants mentioned they had never worked, with a vast majority having a white-collar job or even a managerial position.

As the survey was conducted in 2012, the respondents could report their professional career over 5-6 years after the return from a study period abroad. We have received 2450 completed questionnaires. We addressed our questionnaire to 14705 Polish alumni, including all Erasmus programme participants in 20. This paper aims to present selected results of a large-scale empirical study on the impact of international student mobility on subsequent employability and professional career. The Erasmus programme contributes to quality improvement in higher education at 3 levels: system (policy), institutional, and individual, and thus enhances employability of university graduates who have taken part in Erasmus mobility.
